For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved weddings. Born and raised in Kansas and belonging to a large family I grew up with many memories of my older cousin’s weddings. Where I come from, if you were related to the bride that meant you were helping with the wedding, everything from making dessert mints, to cooking the food, to decorating the venue and, of course, doing the cleanup at the end of the night. So, from a very early age I knew this is what I wanted to do, what I was meant to do. I started working in the hospitality industry at the age of 14 and continued on to graduate from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management with emphasis on wedding coordination and special events.
While attending college I met my “soon to be” husband, who is originally from Block Island, Rhode Island. I always wanted to live on the east coast and he was my one way ticket! So after graduating from college, we moved to Block Island where I worked at one of the island’s premiere hotels, focusing primarily on weddings. We eventually moved back to the mainland and have made a home for ourselves in South County, RI.
Once on the mainland, I created a journey for myself with the goal of learning and gaining as much experience as possible. Working at a prestigious Golf Club, an amazing restaurant on Federal Hill and then found a home as the Facility/Event Coordinator running several wedding venues that resulting in coordinating over 100 events each season. Being in charge of these wedding venues gave me a tremendous opportunity to gain knowledge, experience and the ability to build amazing relationships, both business and personal that I still maintain to this day.
I am a true believer in “everything happens for a reason”, and with that in mind I decided the time was right to pursue a dream of mine, to have my own wedding and event planning company. Blissful Events is very proud to announce that since its first season we have maintained the award of Best of Weddings from The Knot, Review Rated by Wedding Wire, and have either been featured in or stylized photo shoots for more than 6 wedding magazines.
Blissful Events is near and dear to me and I promise to give you an experience you’ll always remember. An experience that involves passion, commitment, and true love.
