Valentine’s Day Keep it Simple

Valentine’s Day is just a few days away and if you are like me every year you feel a bit of pressure to top the year before. So, maybe this year on Valentine’s Day Keep it Simple! Just maybe in the simplicity Valentine’s Day will be more special than ever.

engaged on valentines dayValentine’s Day is about celebrating the love between you and your partner. It is about letting them know how special they are.  So this year, I’m planning a date night at home with pizza, a fun drink and a small gift.

Personally, I am not a big sweets person.  So a savory homemade pizza and a fun drink sounded just right!  I found a recipe for Cran-Raspberry Spritzer and of course I had to do a taste test… it’s perfect and pretty!

Just in case you want to try it out too!  Here are the ingredients 16oz cranberry-raspberry juice, 20 ounces lemon-lime soda, 1 lemon, quartered, ice cubes, fresh raspberries

Method for Mixing: Fill four glasses with ice. Divide the cranberry-raspberry juice among the glasses. Divide the lemon-lime soda among the glasses, topping off each cup. Squeeze a hint of fresh lemon juice over each, then garnish with a few fresh raspberries. Stir and serve immediately.

And, if you don’t know what to write inside your loved one’s Valentine’s Day card, write this… my favorite poem of all time.

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
